Nowadays arguably better known for mastering records by everyone from Hudson Mohawke to Skrillex and Aho Ssan, Liam McLean aka Joker was one time dubstep’s big new hope, cooking up its “purple” variant with a haul of early works on Tectonic’s Earwax sublabel, his own Kapsize, and Plastician’s Terrorhythm that are now canon in Bristol bassbin lore and beyond.

Since 2018 McLen has been most prolific in working on other people’s records, but marks his return with a classic, bashy bent on grime and dubstep in both parts here, weighing up the grinding midrange and searing leads of ‘Juggernaut’ and the nasty Triton-led squares and orchestral stabs of ’S Wave’ with a signature, clean but gully lean.
