One of UR’s most feared and revered 12”s is finally back in circulation to soundtrack global political unrest

Originally issued as one of their earliest numbers in 1991, the ‘Riot EP’ was released as both a 2x12” and 12” (this) as a definitive mission statement for Detroit’s militant Underground Resistance. Its weaponised style of hardcore Motor City techno was and still is pure blue-collar Detroit and resonated strongly with hooligan rave movements in UK and Belgium at that pivotal time.

The roughneck attitude and urgency of the ‘Riot EP’ still hits hard nearly 30 years later, boiling up in the rabble-raising chants, alarms and body-owning churn of ‘Riot’, along with the Suburban Knight-styled pressure of ‘Panic’ on the A-side, while the B-side slews with the twisted mentasm-style stabs and tribal drive of ‘Rage’ and the escalating acid fury of ‘Assault.’
